I have filled in this meme many times over the years way back to 2005 I think. Most have been lost with teh great server crash of 2012, but I found the questions and decided to go again…
I find this one of the easiest ways for me to reflect on the year that was. In many ways 2013 is a year I would love to put behind me- it had some terrible moments and some great stresses, but, as always, it also had its joys and wonderful moments too.
1. What did you do in 2013 that you’d never done before?
I started my own business- Solar Flair Fibres and experimented more with colour!
2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I believe every day is a new start, likewise every hour, minute second. I try and reflect on my decisions all the time (perhaps too much some of the time!). I have decided 2014 is the year to be kinder to myself and that does mean watching the fuel sources I put in. Knitting wise, I am going to only cast on one new project for two WIPs off the needles!
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Tanya and Anastasia, although I have been particularly bad at catching up with them both.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Not really, although I have shared in others grief throughout the year.
5. What countries/states did you visit?
MIML™ and I went to South Africa in June to visit his family in June and I went to the Bendigo Sheep and Wool Festival in July.
6. What would you like to have in 2014 that you lacked in 2013?
More secure finances which probably means a part-time job of some description.
7. What dates from 2013 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
No dates in particular stand out.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I learnt how to spin and bought (with help!) a wonderful spinning wheel.
9. What was your biggest failure?
I have turned some failures around- not having a job forced me to investigate my own business proposition which I am really loving!
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Not really.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
My Spinning Wheel and blank yarn for the business!
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
My kids. They have been amazing inspirations. The way Immy went to Japan for 3.5 months and seeing her grow through the experience is so amazing. Knowing Japs has had a rough year but managed to pull through makes me smile.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Federal and State Governments I think!
14. Where did most of your money go?
Bills.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Starting my business- I know, I am sounding like a broken record!
16. What song will always remind you of 2013?
I can’t actually think of any. There have been no stand-out songs and I probably won’t vote in the Tripe J Hottest 100 this year!
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:?
a) happier or sadder?
happier
b)thinner or fatter?
thinner
c) richer or poorer?
poorer.
18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Stopping to smell the roses
19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Worry.
20. How did you spend Christmas?
MIML™ and the kids and I spent the day together. I cooked turkey with the trimmings and a Choc Cherry Pavlova. We laughed and talked and smiled!
21. Did you fall in love in 2013?
Over and over again with the gorgeous MIML™
22. How many one-night stands?
None!
23. What was your favourite TV program?
Downton Abbey, Scandal, Doctor Who…
24. Did you make a friend with anyone that you didn’t know this time last year?
I have met so many lovely people in the knitting community it makes my heart sing!
25. What was the best book you read?
I don’t know if I have read anything of substance that I remember this year!
26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I’m not sure I made any this year. I am listening to less and less radio and often miss new songs.
27. What did you want and get?
Self satisfaction.
28. What did you want and not get?
A job with a guaranteed income each fortnight.
29. What was your favourite film of this year?
Gravity
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 41. I can’t remember what we did!
31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A bit more moula!
32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2013?
Comfortable.

Friends who live too far away.
37. Who was the best new person you met?
I can’t single any individual out.
38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2013.
This too shall pass.
39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
This is for all my friends who have helped me and been my bridge over troubled water.
When you’re weary
Feeling small
When tears are in your eyes
I will dry them all
I’m on your side
When times get rough
And friends just can’t be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
When you’re down and out
When you’re on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you
I’ll take your part
When darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Sail on Silver Girl,
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
If you need a friend
I’m sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Here’s to an awesome 2014!
